It’s October! Time for cooler weather, jack o’lanterns, witches, black cats, ghost stories, crunchy leaves … and did I mention cooler weather? I’m saying it a little bit louder just in case Georgia might hear me saying that and get the memo. Looking at you, temperatures in the 80s for the next week.
I didn’t read nearly as much in September as I thought I would. I don’t think this is by any fault of my own, per se – more like things have just been busy and a little wacky and that makes it hard for me to read on any consistent schedule.
Seriously, y’all. Two books. I’m shocked and appalled at myself.

This is sad, y’all. I did try to read more but I picked up a couple of non-starters that didn’t fit with my mood at the time – and you and I both know you can’t just fake it when you’re a mood reader. So it took a couple of hard reboots before I settled on these two. Luckily, as soon as I did, I flew through them. But September was just a haggard reading month for me. Yikes.
I’m currently reading The Astonishing Color of After, so this will be my “gimmie” for the month.
Jodi Picoult’s A Spark of Light will be in my hot little hands tomorrow, and you bet your butt that it’s next on my TBR pile because I eat these up like a vegan at a seaweed convention. (this was the worst metaphor I’ve ever written in my life, guys).
Other than that … who knows! As usual, I am such a mood reader that it’s impossible to pinpoint exactly what I’ll read. It’s likely I’ll pick up City of Bone, or What If It’s Us when it arrives. My copy of A Blade So Black just came in, too.
“Patricia, stop buying so many damn books you aren’t reading!” – who am I kidding, you would never say that to me because then you’d have to say it to yourself, and we all know that won’t happen! 😉
