After seeing some of my favorite bloggy buddies sign up for 2019’s Beat the Backlist, most recently my dear friend Ellie, I decided to bite the bullet and go for it myself. The whole idea of Beat the Backlist is to love and appreciate your shiny new books and ARCs, but to still methodically and carefully go through your piles of books accumulated that were published in 2018 or sooner, which is a habit I have a bad inclination toward.
This is not an exhaustive list, it’s moreso just a list from memory of what I know I have needing to be read. It will be tweaked over the coming weeks and months, I’m 100% sure!
2019 Beat the Backlist … Backlist?
|Title||Author||Date Completed||Rating||My Review|
|A Semi-Definitive List of Worst Nightmares||Krystal Sutherland|
|The Kiss Quotient||Helen Hoang|
|Scream All Night||Derek Milman|
|Starry Eyes||Jenn Bennett|
|Red Rising||Pierce Brown|
|Gemina||Amy & Jay|
|City of Bones||Cassandra Clare|
|The Nightingale||Kristin Hannah|
|The Dark Descent of Elizabeth Frankenstein||Kiersten White|
|The Great Alone||Kristin Hannah|
I have full, mad, punch-drunk hope that this will both become a longer list and also manage to effortless work itself out and make it so that I can easily knock these books out. However, we all know how well that usually goes (spoiler alert: the best laid plans of mice and men …)
I am also playing for team Ravenclaw in the optional Hogwarts portion of the challenge. Ravenclaws in the house say caw, shake your ass like it’s against the law! (I’m not sorry for that). Are you participating? What team are you on? Talk to me!
